Thanks to all 60+ of you who joined us, braving the rain and cold to help make our Open House Melbourne Weekend events - Eyes Open Ride: Stories from the Streets - such a success!
Our Eyes Open Rides were proudly supported by Melbourne Zero Network members Neuron Mobility, Youth Projects, City of Melbourne, The Big Issue and Launch Housing. Designed as a unique scooter tour of the Melbourne CBD to open people’s eyes to what our city is like for those who are experiencing homelessness and the organisations and people who are hard at work to end it, together we explored iconic landmarks by scooter as we heard lesser-told stories from Melbourne’s streets. We set off on four tours to rediscover Melbourne and its spaces through new eyes, contributing to a more compassionate understanding of ourselves, our community and our city.
We hope that for participants this helped build empathy and understanding of some of the unique services supporting people in our community who do not have a home. And that it also showed rough sleeping homelessness is not inevitable: together we can end it.
